The State Labour Inspectorate is a Moldovan state institution subordinated to the Ministry of Labour and Social Protection overseeing the protection of worker’s rights. The Inspectorate can conduct scheduled and unscheduled inspections of employees’ premises.

How can it help you

Occupation safety violations by the employer

If you have ground to believe that the employer does not respect statutory provisions on occupational safety, then you may file a complaint against that employer. Examples include lack of adequate protection gear against workplace hazards, violations of fire safety rules and breach of particular employment rules of young workers under the ages of 15, 16 or 18 (depending on the specific work).

Denial of employees’ right

The State Labour Inspectorate can react to your complaint against violations of your rights by an employer. For example, if you have been withheld your wage or your overtime payment you may submit a petition to the State Labour Inspectorate so that they can investigate these circumstances and defend your labour rights. Other examples include cases of unreported employment or an employer benefitting from a person’s work without formally signing a contract, denying lunch breaks or annual leave etc.

Trafficking in persons or sexual harassment

The State Labour Inspectorate may examine cases of suspected trafficking in persons or sexual harassment allegations to keep wrongdoers accountable. If you are a victim of any such situation you may file your case to defend your or another victim’s rights.
