The official language in civil proceedings in Moldova is the Romanian language.

This means that the Romanian language will be used in the trial. All court documents, including protocols of hearings and judgment will also be prepared in Romanian. Your submissions and evidence to the court must also be in Romanian or translated into Romanian. The civil proceedings can be conducted in another language accepted by the majority of the participants. In this latter case, the decision must also be drawn up in Romanian.

If you do not speak or understand Romanian sufficiently, you can ask the court for an interpreter free of charge. The interpreter must help you to participate in court proceedings and to familiarize yourself with the case materials.
